About the Course

Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging area of information and communications technology (ICT) involving many disciplines of computer science and engineering including sensors/actuators, communications networking, server platforms, data analytics and smart applications. IoT is considered to be an essential part of the 4th Industrial Revolution along with AI and Big Data. This course will be very useful to senior undergraduate and graduate students as well as engineers who are working in the industry. This course aims at introducing the general concepts and architecture of IoT applications, networking technologies involved, IoT development kits including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Samsung ARTIK, and how to program them. This course will be offered in English. Subtitles/captions in both of English and Korean will be also provided. I have gained a lot of knowledge about IoT & IoT projects. Sir has wonderfully explained all of the content. Thank you. If you cut down the cost of the certificate it will be very helpful for me.

I am still a little confused about the difference between IoT and AI or how they are connected! But my understanding so far is that IoT is a type of technology that is embedded with sensors

This is a pretty nice little introduction to get started in IoT. Introduces Raspberry Pi, Arduino and Samsung Artik. You can probably complete it in a few days.

To complete you only need to complete quizzes. It does very quickly go over the standard "Hello World" equivalent for IoT or Embedded systems - that is make LED blink.

I think it is a little bit dated because one of the answer for one question on one of the quizzes was the Python 2.7 print statement which wouldn't work on Python 3.

Why three stars? I plan to use the whole range 1-5 for rating courses with the bulk being 3 or 4 stars. Rarely will I give a 1 or 5 star - that's reserved for very poor and exceptional courses, respectively. This course does not warrant 4 stars because it doesn't go very deep and you only have to pass very simple muliple choice quizzes to get certificate.

Thanks for a very nice short course introducing IoT boards!

This course offers foundational concepts, but its curriculum urgently requires an update to remain relevant. The course's reliance on outdated hardware, specifically the Raspberry Pi 3 Model, limits practical application given the availability of newer, more powerful versions. More critically, the inclusion of the ARTIK development board renders sections of the course entirely obsolete, as the platform has been discontinued by Samsung. This makes it impossible for learners to engage with the material as intended and hinders real-world applicability. To enhance its value, the course should be updated to feature current IoT hardware and actively supported platforms, ensuring students gain skills relevant to today's industry.

I learned things, but the videos were boring, although they could be informative. I didn麓t like it because it seems to me that it is not a well-worked course. I feel it was made "on the fly". I got boring many times, even though the subject was interesting itself. Anyway, I am thankful it was a free course, but wouldn麓t really recommend it to a friend.

Informative course, technical details and some real examples of the technology application in the world.

However, this course is outdated, the last week involves Samsung ARTIK which is discontinued by Samsung. To complete this course you have to waste time on the last week's content, stay away until they update this course

The course gave a brief introduction to programming the boards, but it did not teach how to program, and many questions were not related to the lectures. I hoped that it gave more examples.

should have focused more on Rasberry pI and Arduino. The Samsung offering is very is of limited interest in most of the world.
