About the Course

This course gives you easy access to the invaluable learning techniques used by experts in art, music, literature, math, science, sports, and many other disciplines. We鈥檒l learn about how the brain uses two very different learning modes and how it encapsulates (鈥渃hunks鈥) information. We鈥檒l also cover illusions of learning, memory techniques, dealing with procrastination, and best practices shown by research to be most effective in helping you master tough subjects. Using these approaches, no matter what your skill levels in topics you would like to master, you can change your thinking and change your life. If you鈥檙e already an expert, this peep under the mental hood will give you ideas for turbocharging successful learning, including counter-intuitive test-taking tips and insights that will help you make the best use of your time on homework and problem sets. If you鈥檙e struggling, you鈥檒l see a structured treasure trove of practical techniques that walk you through what you need to do to get on track. If you鈥檝e ever wanted to become better at anything, this course will help serve as your guide. This course can be taken independent of, concurrent with, or prior to, its companion course, Mindshift. (Learning How to Learn is more learning-focused, and Mindshift is more career-focused.) A related course by the same instructors is Uncommon Sense Teaching. This class really focused on the process of learning. It taught me so much. I even shared ideas with my college and high school student. They were surprised as some concepts were helpful to them also.

Nagyon hasznos volt, felismertem tanul谩si gyenges茅geimet, hogy min is kellene v谩ltoztatnom. Biztosan fogom tudni kamatoztatni jelenlegi egyetemi tanulm谩nyaim sor谩n is. Nagyon tudatosan voltak 枚ssze谩ll铆tva a tananyagok 茅s a sz谩monk茅r艖 tesztek is.

Excellent! I have been a teacher for 18 years. I wish I had learned this information when I was preparing to be a teacher! It would have helped me as a learner, and it would have informed the study skills classes I attempted to cobble together.

This course teaches the fundamentals of the learning process. The optional interviews are very useful and enlightening. Weeks 1-3 were the most useful. Week 4 is more about test taking strategies, hence, not as useful for working professionals.

I wish I would have taken this course when I started college, when I started my master's program, and when I started learning programming. Incredible course full of useful information and it's one of the first and only MOOCs I've ever completed.

Very helpful. Deceptively easy, but it's actually quite useful and applicable to real life. As an undergrad of UCSD, I wish I had known about this course at orientation but now I'm an alumni lol. Still feels good to learn about learning, though.

I think it is good for some people, I mean i learned a lot about human brain in this course, but most of the "good advices" and techniques mentioned in videos were used by me subconciously, still would recommend for knowledge about human brain.
