About the Course

Over the past decade, the Institute for the Future has pioneered new methods in 鈥渕assively-multiplayer foresight.鈥� You鈥檒l learn how to adapt these methods to get diverse, surprising views of what鈥檚 possible, build your empathy for other people鈥檚 futures, and reduce your risk of being 鈥渂lindsided鈥� by the future. This course features content from the Ethical Operating System, a tool created by the Institute in collaboration with Omidyar Networks鈥� Tech and Society Lab. It鈥檚 designed to help technology companies anticipate risks and prevent unwanted consequences of the things they build. Whether or not you work in tech, the Ethical Operating System will give you the chance to participate right now in an urgent future forecasting game. The stakes of the game are the future of truth, privacy, democracy, security, and our collective well-being. It鈥檚 a unique opportunity to join creative and strategic forces with people who are making the tech that鈥檚 inventing the future, and with fellow futures thinkers like you. Absolutely loved it. I loved the Four Futures Feeling tool. It is great for helping you think outside your default parameters.

I was hoping for more *actual* games, and perhaps tips on how to recruit "players" to collaborate with. But the exercises and tools were interesting and useful!

Good value for money (assuming it takes you no more than one week to complete the course), but too much reading versus video teaching. In addition most of the reading material looks more like IFTF marketing material. I would have hoped to learn more tools and read less case studies/examples. The quizzes and assignments are too trivial and do not really test if you have understood the covered material.
