Bio

Scott is a Professor of and at UC San Diego, where he is a co-founder and Associate Director of the Design Lab. Before joining UCSD, he was an Associate Professor of at Stanford University, where he co-directed the and held the Bredt Faculty Scholar development chair. Organizations around the world use his lab's open-source design tools and curricula; several and popular press articles have covered his research and teaching. He helped introduce to open online education, and taught the first . He has been awarded the , , , and . He has authored and co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles; eight were awarded best paper or honorable mention at the premier HCI conferences ( / / ). His former graduate students are leading , , , , and . He has a dual BA in and , , and an MS and PhD in . He serves on the editorial board of and , co-chaired the program, co-chaired the systems area, and has served on advisory boards for , , and tups passionate about interaction design.
