This course entitled 鈥淎SME B31 Series and Pipeline Construction鈥� under the specialization entitled 鈥淒esign of Industrial Piping Systems鈥� is aimed to cover power, process, and transportation ASME B31 code sections and activities involved in standard cross-country pipeline construction. First, the evolution of the ASME B31 Pressure Piping series is covered as it is important to know and all the code sections under ASME B31 Pressure Piping are mentioned in this course. The layouts of the code sections namely ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and ASME B31.4 are elaborated to address the design procedure of power, process, and liquid transportation piping systems to comply with the requirements mentioned in these code sections. The learners get familiarized with the chapters and their paragraphs, mandatory and non-mandatory appendices of these three code sections. The activities involved under cross-country pipeline construction such as Right of Way, Clearing, Grading, Stringing, Trenching, Lowering, Backfilling, Tie-in, Welding, Bending, Non-destructive Testing, Field Joint Coating, Cathodic Protection, Special installation on pipelines like Markers, and Cleanup are explained. The equipment and crew involved in performing these activities are provided in this course. It increases the awareness about these activities among the learners. The cathodic protection system to control the corrosion of buried cross-country pipelines is covered. The limitations of the open-cut method, the Horizontal Directional Drilling technique for horizontal earth borings, thrust boring, and micro-tunneling techniques are discussed. The hot tapping technique which is one of the strategies adopted to repair the leaks in the pipeline without disturbing the process is also covered in this course....

The course is awesome... Still the second course 2 phase needs much clarification. Except one tutor every one explained well. Especially Naka Muralidhara Rao sir is great. And the mam is also explaining well. But One tutor was just reading quickly and fastly moving the slides. Very very embracing. Apart from this everything is fine. And also it would have been fine if the specialization course also included practical case study for each and every topic. It would have been more easy to understand. In This course Moduule 1 is not at all useful, in this module instruuctor has covered index of B31.1 and B31.3. Moduule 2 is useful for who are working on Cross Counntry Projects.

The first module of the course consists of listing the various sections of ASME B31, while the second module provides a very superficial approach to pipeline construction. The tests are all based on memorizing random information, such as how deep in the soil an identification marker for a pipeline must be inserted.
